Carbon steel provides a very strong blade (harder than stainless steel) however, they will rust. As with all carbon steel tools, clean and dry after use and wipe clean with an oil cloth. Store in a dry place, and wipe the blade clean after use.
Keep the blade edge sharp, don’t wait until it becomes dull and blunt. Run over the blade regularly with a sharpening stone (fine) or file.
